Missionary Week #8
Nov 5, 2018 – Nov 11, 2018
Hello Everyone! Hope
your week has been a great one!
Monday – Nov 5, 2018
We leave for work in dark, we got home and it’s dark! We went to the cafeteria today and ate lunch
so we could see the SUN! Working long
hours – about a 10 hr day – but then we can leave early on Friday!
Tuesday – Nov 6, We went to work and then left about 8:30
and went with The Whiteheads (who we work with) to go check on the Elders
apartment – and we found Elder Olsen! He
got here the end of October – we met him in the MTC! Anyway, their apartments are checked
quarterly to make sure everything is working & clean and that they are
safe! They have an emergency box of food
set aside and we had to check expiration dates and there were a few things they
were going to have to replace. We all
have smoke detectors and Co2 detectors that have to be checked. Then we went back to work.
Wednesday – Nov. 7 - We went to work and left at 10 for our
Migration office appointment – we had to get fingerprinted and a picture taken
– if you are staying longer than a year here.
It went real smooth – we were in and out within 15-20 minutes. Now we wait for 10 days for a card. Tonight we went with the Borg’s who we work
with to our Ward Relief Society Activity.
The girls went for the activity (we made “roses” out of the fall leaves)
and the men came for the treats they served afterward!
Thursday – Nov 8, Worked another 10 hour day – we stopped in
“Alvik” to do some shopping and ate at McDonalds! They offer sweet potatoe fries! John had a Big Mac so he could compare – there
were 2 hamburger patties but they were miniature OH and no sauce! I had a “Chicken McFeast” and it was
great.
Friday – Nov 9, Went to work and left about 10 to go with
the Whiteheads again to check some Sister Missionaries apartment. We drove for 1 ½ hrs. We actually got to see some “country”. We were early for our appointment, so we
toured the beautiful Cathedral in Vasteras.
It was beautiful, and it was misty all the way there and back. There was one Sister from Gilbert, AZ! Fun to talk to them.
Saturday – Nov 10, We had a relaxing morning – nowhere to go
or be YEAH! We watched some high school football on-line St. Johns wasn’t
covered but Round Valley and Snowflake were – so we watched them. We took the train in to Stockholm and did
some shopping. I got a pair of boots – that I’ll be needing soon! It’s pretty much wet all the time – it’s
pretty crazy – you see fog and mist – your glasses get wet, you feel some rain
drops hit your head – and there are puddles in the streets and sidewalks, but
you don’t really get wet! We also found
a grocery store that had some American items – I needed canned pumpkin and
cream of mushroom soup – I only found the soup!
I would say grocery shopping is the hardest thing to do – have I
mentioned that before!?!?! We use Google
Translate A L O T but sometimes it just
doesn’t get everything right. We used
our new oven this morning for the first time and John got the instruction out
and used google translate – this stove has one rack, and three pans- almost look
like broiler pans with no top on it and the instructions said these pans were
used for cakes, and to grill meats and placement for frozen rat! I think I’ll pass!
That’s about it for our week –
work, work, work, work, work and 2 days off!
Having fun and finding our way around a little bit better. We miss you all and think of you often. Hug your families for us and send us a
note! Love, Elder & Sister
Richardson
